Almost Forgetten in Time, Dug.

As I walked into the Kahului Public Library, I browsed through the magazine stand to notice a large painting lingering behind the book sale rack. How could I have missed this anomaly during all the years I have visited this place? I guess it's because Tadashi Sato's artwork seamlessly finds a way to blends itself with our environment.
Tadashi Sato (1923-2005) is credited as a contributor to the abstract expressionist movement during the late 50's. His work has been exhibited in New York, London, Berlin, Washington D.C and in the collection of the Guggenheim Museum, Whitney Museum and Yale University. Most importantly his career was launched with the support of actors Charles Laughton and Burgess Meredith. Provided that he is one of Maui's most recognized Artist, Sato was honored as a Living Treasure of Hawaii by the Honpa Hongwanji Mission in 1984.
A few weeks ago I stood in front of this painting just in awe by it's scale. Beneath the water and sun damage you will find the quite power of art still in motion. I step back again to appreciate a man's legacy rediscovering a painting he did 47 years later.
